Job Description

Position: Solar Technician I (field) Location Bellefield Solar project, Mojave, CA. Candidates must reside in Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area. Responsibilities Perform assigned O&M activities for solar PV, BESS sites, and substations in Southern California. Conduct corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations for equipment such as inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, DC and AC collection systems, etc. Execute routine maintenance work (electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, basic inverter troubleshooting) per work orders. Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders; operate electrical and mechanical plant systems. Participate in training and assist with technical/administrative duties related to plant operation. Assist with site vegetation management, including operation of tractors and mowing equipment. Write and assist with plant orders, procedures, operating instructions and other documents. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements. Work independently or in crews as required. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; technical degree or solar certification preferred. Field experience with solar system installation is an asset. Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) and operational characteristics of power facility equipment. Experience with electrical systems and knowledge of safety principles (LOTO, electrical safety). Proficient in operating a personal computer, standard business software, SCADA, and CMMS. Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to train and lead field personnel. Detail‑oriented, proactive problem‑solving, and strong technical competence. English reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations. Working Conditions Outdoor work at solar power plant; exposure to high/low temperatures, humidity, and potential heights. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, and operating PPE. Work may involve proximity to rotating equipment, energized components, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Shift work and overtime may be required. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay range: $28.50–$34.21, subject to market and experience. Annual bonus may be offered.
